The system of Tombstone is little more than an enormous asteroid field, languidly orbiting a bloated red sun. The largest chunk of rock, a planetoid twice the mass of Pluto, was quickly and roughly terraformed by a long-forgotten process (or a high-tech system, if there is one in the cluster). It's average surface temperature is 50 degrees Celsius, and most of the water comes from harvesting asteroid ice.
Currently, the system is being strip-mined. The planet Tombstone is used as a trade station and repair depot for the tugs that trawl through the fields, systematically harvesting the resources. There are no facilities to produce or manufacture slipships in-system, but they come by from other systems regularly to negotiate for supplies. Many of the workers are penal labourers, which makes visiting ships even less inclined to stay around once their business is concluded.
