Nicodemus began his association with group 57 as something of a self-centred scoundrel, but over the course of his service to Inquisitor Brennos discovered the value of duty and the personal satisfaction that comes in the service of the Imperium. An excellent lateral thinker, Nicodemus often surprised the group by finding unusual solutions to the problems facing them though he rarely showed any desire for leadership.

Acolyte Nicodemus was assigned to the group to act as an observer and something of a guard over then-acolyte Rickards, prior to the group's arrival on the Subsector Capital planet of Yassir. Upon arriving on the planet he created some difficulties through acts of kleptomania at an official banquet, and only redeemed himself by posing as Governor Barksdale to whom he bore an uncanny and perhaps not entirely coincidental resemblence (Indeed, it is suspected that this resemblance was the main reason he was assigned to the group). He proved himself further by demonstrating great personal courage in the group's struggles on that planet and greatly enhanced the Governor's flagging reputation when he was filmed administering justice to a street-level dealer of Epiphany.

Following the battle to clear the tunnels on Yassir, Inquistorial group 57 made ready to depart the planet under the instructions of the inquistor's assistant, and acolyte Nicodemus made a rather unusual request.

Begging your pardon, my lord, in addition to the reports already sent in by Darl, Ephese, and Adalais, I would like to confess on a purely personal matter.
When I was recruited into the service, sir, I was without purpose and scum of the earth, though scum I still remain; I have found a semblance of purpose with which I could serve the Emperor. Nothing can excuse my earlier behaviour at the governor's palace and I was rightly taken and taught to fear the Emperor, but by the Emperor's grace, Governor Barksdale have shown me mercy and gave me a new lease on life as his body double.
As I continue to act in this capacity I find that I feel a new sense of purpose and resolve. Indulge me for a moment, my lord, but while I carry out our mission in full, I imagine myself as a representative of Governor Barksdale, and show the resolute citizens of Yassir that Governor Barksdale is working for them when I chase down resistance leaders, beat up drug peddlers and fight off assassins. In such uncertain times on my home planet, my fellow citizens need to see that Governor Barksdale is not hiding in the palace.
Unworthy as I am, this vision fills me with determination to transform myself into something greater than the scum I was, to show hope to my fellow citizens and terror to the enemies of the Emperor. I humbly request, sir, Emperor willing, that at a time in between missions or when you no longer require me, that in addition of acting as an agent of your will that I be allowed to continue to act in my current capacity as the body double of Governor Barksdale, as his right arm and representative on the streets and in the underworld, where I will uphold the Emperor's will and strike terror in the hearts of criminals.

Since the purpose of Nicodemus' assignment to group 57 had been to preserve the life and reputation of Governor Barksdale, and given that following the stresses of the long struggle with the beast the Governor found himself indisposed, the inquistion saw fit to grant acolyte Nicodemus his request, with the understanding that he remains under the supervision of Administrative Assistant Lot Aguilarius, subservient to any future requirements of the inquistion.
Nicodemus was last observed heading a popular 'Take back the streets by Beating all the Shifty-Looking people Around the Head" initiative in his persona as Governor Barksdale.
