Background

Growing Up

Growing up in Tombstone meant working hazardous jobs before the age of ten. A lot of kids get maimed or killed in industrial accidents, as most of them are working by eight. Little pay meant stealing was the only way to stay fed. Also, one had to think on the fly, because without proper training many of the mining machines were especially dangerous.

Starting out

After proving his resourcefulness throughout his childhood, a local labour manager noticed his dedication. This man, named Olaf Spaceboss, adopted him and taught him the intricacies of labour negotiation in Tombstone. This meant general combat training, as well as the occasional lesson in mining operations. Most of the time Jett was just another labourer smashing rocks in his EVA, but he found he truly excelled at hurting people and began to spend more and more of his off-time practicing. He knew one mistake on his part and he, or worse his employer, might be dead.

Moment of crisis

By 22, Jett was Olaf's right-hand man. Intelligent enough to get the job done, naive and reckless enough to do what was asked without question. So when an opportunity for a major haul of military-grade energy weapons came up, he was the natural choice. Under a false identity, Jett was enrolled in the University of Areston's highly competitive Bachelor of Warrior Science (B.WS) program.

His papers were purchased for him, and he quickly revealed himself to be a natural at the practical side of things, so he excelled. After two years the opportunity finally came, and Jett was alone with the entire program's supply of Fusion Guns. He made the heist, and escaped with the weapons to Viagra. This was where the plan changed.

Jett did not meet Olaf's contact in Viagra for transport back to Tombstone. Jett took his cargo and booked passage on the first ship out of the spaceport, a freighter with a reputation for staying out of trouble. It was piloted by one Derrick Phezir. The freighter was attacked and boarded by Dead Star Pirates soon after its arrival in Halogia, but Derrick and Jett, with the help of the advanced weaponry stashed on the ship, were able to fight their way to a shuttle and escape with their lives.

The whole thing was pretty damned heroic, in Jett's eyes.

Sidetracked

Jett miner was minding his own business when Olaf Spaceboss informed him of the job on Erewhon. For a sizable fee, Jett was going to provide some muscle for a run-of-the-mill misappropriation of funds job. When he arrived, however, it all went sideways.

Jett had never been to Erewohn. Heard it was nice, but all the people seemed way too stuck up. There had been some rumours of big bears or something, but nothing prepared him for the level of wildlife running amok on this planet. After being scared into a change of space leggings, he met the client, and the job went as planned. Until the client (James Trevelyan) went completely batshit and dropped the perp into a pool of the scariest looking fluorescent eels Jett had ever seen. Jett left very quickly after the money was back where it was supposed to be.
