[edit] Background

[edit] Growing Up

Ogilvy grew up in a middle-class neighborhood in the Viagra Cluster. He went to a private school, and struggled financially to get through it. He had to face wealthier bullies, but learned to resist their intimidation and to scare them off, usually through pranks.

Upon graduation, Ogilvy had done well enough to get a scholarship to Ariston.

[edit] Starting out

Ogilvy graduated from an Ariston university and got a job as a shipboard computer tech to pay off his debt and travel expenses to the alien ruins at Halogia. He learned to handle weapons, especially because of confrontations with the Dead Star Pirates.

[edit] Moment of crisis

Ogilvy met Derek Pfizer on the strangely variable trade route between Viagra and Halogia. An unusual event triggered a "switch" between routes will his ship was still there. Ogilvy proposed that the dead star had something to do with this, but it wasn't his area of expertise and noone listens to him anyway. However, after days of being trapped, Pfizer convinced people that Ogilvy's theory might be right.

Apparently it was. The ship emerged into truespace, and Ogily became famous... but for all the wrong reasons. He wanted to study alien tech, not astronomy.

[edit] Sidetracked

Ogilvy tried to buy an alien plinth from a collector in order to prove one of his theories. He mentioned this to a pawnbroker friend of his.

This plinth was instead "acquired" by Christya Desdemona Heyrdahl, who then attempted to sell it to the very same pawnbroker. He refused, however, realizing its worth (and probably lack of legality). He told Ogilvy a bit about this, but when he clammed up, Ogilvy "demonstrated" his knowledge of combat artifacts. From this he got a description of the thief.

His attempts to track her down failed however; he missed it by a day.
