Gulg

Gulg, a relatively small green city in the Ivory Triangle forest, is ruled by the Oba. She is revered as a kind-hearted environmentalist goddess and any citizen can get an audience with her, if they don't mind waiting a few years.

Many of her templars, the nganga, are secretive servants who don't act as bureaucrats. They are distinguished by wearing necklaces and masks (or painting their faces with skulls). They stealthily solve problems; usually the only trace they leave behind is a disappeared person, a little blood, and maybe some fetishes. Other templar support the judaga in raids against Nibenay.

Many of her warriors are judaga, stealthy rangers who have a habit of taking the heads of their enemies and bringing them back to Gulg.

Gulg is divided into numerous "dagadas", which are basically villages. People of Gulg identify with their dagadas rather than Gulg itself.

Gulg often fights with Nibenay. Gulg's warriors and templars generally have the advantage in the forest while Nibenay has the advantage in the open wastes. Wars have been fought for generations, with neither side gaining an advantage. Neither sorcerer-king have ever taken to the field.
