House rule in play for social conflict, perhaps other type of conflict as well. This is currently in use for Diaspora, but should be usable for other FATE games as well.

When performing a "move another" action in social conflict, you may split the check shifts among several targets, including yourself. This is a single action, so it must make narrative sense to affect all specified targets with one action. Moves need not be all in the same direction, as long as the move directions are justified.

Each target beyond the first imposes a cumulative -1 penalty on the roll, and each target gets their own defense roll (if applicable) to resist the move. The action sequence for a move action against several targets is:

  1. Declare all targets of the move before your roll.
  2. For each target beyond the first, apply a cumulative -1 to your skill roll.
  3. Each target rolls normally to defend against your action, if they would normally get such a roll.
  4. Record the number of shifts gained against each target. The highest result is the total number of shifts you have available, but you may not apply more shifts to moving any particular target than you scored against them.

If a zone boundary has a pass value, it must be paid once for every target crossing it. Shifts may also be used as normal to erode or rebuild barriers.
