DinAlt was never really a great place to live, but they settled there. They died in the millions as the great technology failed them, lost to the harshness of this barren world, yet they persevered. A thousand years after contact was lost the Guard found us. A thousand years of poverty, hunger and strife had taught us to scrabble, and in some way taught us to fight. Conscription into the Guard was inevitable and welcomed. The ability to fly away from the great want that pervaded DinAlt was something every child was filled with.

We learned quickly how to fight like the Guard. We fight to never hunger or want again in the service of the Emperor. That's what I thought until I met my fellow members of the inquisitorial group I was assigned to. Now I fight to keep these bastards from dying, or try to anyways.
