Cor he ended up a gladiatorial slave in the arenas of Balic. He was owned by some rich individual, maybe a member of one of the merchant houses.
- In one of those periodic events, in his mid-20s, he was amongst a group who managed to escape the city. Somehow they managed to seize a ship and became silt pirates for a number of years.
- He was not the captain, but he was the first mate. The captain was a woman and a close (platonic) friend of his (name not determined)
- I think what happened eventually was that they needed more crew and decided to try attacking a slaver caravan (not on the silt), in part because of their desire to free more slaves. If it's ok, I'm going to say that this turned out to be a trap, and most of them including the captain were killed. Cor blames himself for not failing his captain.
- Due to a branding on his skin, Cor was recognized as the "property" of his master and put onto a caravan to Tyr to be returned to his master (to be made an example of...).
- Despite his violent past, Cor would really prefer not to kill people he doesn't have to. He's killed an awful lot of people already...
